FIRST-YEAR GUARANTEED HOUSING UPDATES FOR 2025-2026

First-Year Housing Guarantee:

  • Students who applied for housing by May 5, 2025 are guaranteed to receive a housing offer prior to August 1, 2025. Housing offers are not room or building type specific.
  • Students who apply for housing after May 5, 2025 will be able to reserve a housing room based on availability after the guaranteed offer list has been exhausted. Housing is not guaranteed for first-year students who apply after May 5, 2025.

 

Reservations and Guaranteed Offer List:

  • All communication about housing offers will be sent via UMail. It is imperative that students check their UMail account regularly as housing offers are time sensitive.
  • The first round of traditional housing reservations will take place between May 12-23rd. Reservation times will be determined based on when students completed their housing application. Please note, not all students who applied by May 5, 2025 will receive an initial reservation time.
  • If students do not receive a reservation time for the May 12-23 reservation block, they will be placed on our guaranteed housing offer list. Students will know their exact position on our guaranteed housing offer list. They can find this position listed in the Housing U portal. Positions on the list are determined based on when students completed their application. Offers will be sent to students on this list on a regular basis via UMail.

Guaranteed Offer Process:

  • Students who receive an offer will receive communication via their University of Utah email (i.e. Umail).
  • Applicants will have 72 hours to reserve a room, meaning they will need to log back into Housing U in CIS and pay the $200 reservation fee.
  • Students receive one housing offer.
  • If a student receives a housing offer but does not reserve a room, the student is removed from the guaranteed housing list.

LIST DETAILS AND UPDATES

Lists are categorized based on their academic classification with the University and the gender of room the student indicates they want in the housing application. This results in the following guaranteed offer groupings:

Guaranteed housing applicants are categorized based on their classification:

  • First Year Students: Female Rooms
  • First Year Students: Male Rooms
  • First Year Students: Gender Inclusive Housing
