Coming soon! Kahlert Village will be the University of Utah’s newest residential building, opening in fall 2020. The project is designed to encourage students to deepen their engagement with the U through Living Learning Communities (LLCs) and Themed Communities (TCs). The communities being planned include:
- Patricia W. Child Health-Health & Wellness Wing: Focus on inter-professional education as well as increasing access to health professions for underrepresented students.
- Heather Kahlert Technology Initiatives Wing: Focus on increasing the number of students in the science, technology, engineering and math [STEM] disciplines, particularly historically marginalized students.
- Gail Miller Community Engagement Wing: Residents will work in collaboration with the esteemed Bennion Center, fellow students, and local partners to strengthen communities through learning, scholarship, and advocacy. Residents will have the opportunity to connect their academic knowledge with real-world applications and develop their own civic competencies through community engagement. Residents will explore community engagement opportunities and pathways, develop awareness about justice and equity, and build connections with other students to foster a sense of belonging at the University of Utah. - First-Year Honors College Living Learning Communities (LLCs): These communities re designed to bring smaller groups of students together within a residence hall. These groups create a small network of Honors students who take one or more required Honors course together during their first year of college.
