Get Involved

Getting involved in the activities and events within Housing & Residential Education is the best way to experience our Culture of Belonging, College Success, Personal Development, and Civic Engagement.  Additionally, students who are involved tend to do better in school, complete their degrees, and develop skills for life beyond college.  Also, it’s really fun, and it’s where life happens.

The following are among the many involvement opportunities in Housing & Residential Education:

LATE NIGHT PROGRAMMING

While living on campus, we want you to have a ton of fun. On many weekends, our Programming Assistants host events in the Peterson Heritage Center, Marriott Honors Community, and Lassonde Studios to give you a great, substance free way to meet and hang out with friends. Often times there’s also good food and prizes. Some of our traditional events are Casino Royale Night, Club HC, and Karaoke Night.

SOCIAL JUSTICE ADVOCATES

The Social Justice Advocates in Housing & Residential Education seek to help students from underrepresented populations at the U find and build community and visibility. They do this through holding Equity Office hours, hosting educational and community-building events, and reaching out to students. Underrepresented populations can include students from a variety of different racial, ethnic, and national backgrounds, LGBTQIA people, first-generation college students, etc.

RESIDENCE HALL ASSOCIATION

Every student who lives on campus is automatically a member of the Residence Hall Association (RHA).  The RHA seeks to be the student voice within Housing & Residential Education, and they provide events and activities for residents, opportunities for advocacy for change, and leadership development.  You are invited to attend all RHA events, and we would love if you joined one of our boards:

  • Traditions Board
  • Off Campus Events Board
  • Sustainability Board
  • Diversity and Inclusion Board
  • First-Year Board
  • Upper Division Board
  • Marketing and Outreach Board
  • Student Leader Council

Twice a year, the RHA takes residents to conferences where they can develop their leadership skills on campus:

  • Intermountain Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls Annual Conference – Held Each Fall
  • National Association of College and University Residence Halls Annual Conference – Held Each Summer
